About the Author
A native San Franciscan, Erika Lenkert spends half her time in Napa Valley and the other half visiting San Francisco and seeking global adventure. She's currently a columnist for San Francisco Magazine, co-author of several guides to California, and has contributed to InStyle, Travel & Leisure, Bride's, Wine Country Living, Los Angeles Magazine, and Time Out. Erika is pleased that she actually gets paid to force her opinions onto others-something she'd done pro bono for years.

We used many of the author's suggestions and found them to be excellent, especially for restaurants. I highly recommend this book for anyone planning to travel to San Francisco!

I have been to San Francisco dozens of times and used at least five different travel guide books. I especially liked this one because the author gave a real sense of the places and gave me a better idea of whether I wanted to go to the places--especially when it came to restaurants. As far as sights go, all the essentials are covered. And there are plenty of hotels, restaurants, and shops to choose from. I found some real neighborhood gems thanks to this book. It definitely helped me to see more of authentic San Francisco.
