About the Author

For Lynne Bairstow, Mexico has become more home to her than her native United States. After exploring the country and living in Puerto Vallarta for most of the past 14 years, she’s developed a true love of Mexico and its complex, colorful culture. Her local friends now claim she has patas saladas—a term translated as “salty feet” and which means that she has become a true Vallarta local. Her travel articles on Mexico have been published in the New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Los Angeles Times, Private Air, Luxury Living, and the Mexicana and Alaska Airlines in-flight magazines. In 2000, Lynne was awarded the Pluma de Plata, an honor granted by the Mexican government to foreign writers, for her work with the Frommer’s guide to Mexico.

My husband and I purchased this book to help us as we traveled in Cabo. The information was incomplete, inaccurate, and dated. It failed to warn travelers about the constant barrage of time-share vendors (even in the grocery store and before you leave the airport) and omitted practical advice in dealing with them. The prices listed were too low. The "quality" of many of the restaurants listed was inaccurate. We got more practical tips from local literature. This book was a waste of money.

I've been going to Cabo for years and I can tell you there's nothing remarkable about this book. They actually sugest Cabo Wabo is a main attraction. Anyone who's been to Cabo knows there are much better places. The book has almost no pictures, the few maps are useless and the restaurant recomendations are predictable.

Do yourself a favor, save the $10 and ask a Cabo Taxi driver to show you around.

Was shock in the lack of detail and inside info on hotels, activities, and restaurants. Heading to Cabo San Lucas in Nov 06 and did not even list our 4 star hotel that has been around for decades with the exception of a one liner about festival night, nor the two pirate ship cruises, glass bottom boats, ultra lite info, baja racing....well you get the idea. If you have not been there before you would assume there is nothing to do but club, whale watch, golf and eat. Good general info for Mexico traveling.
