A Voice for Mothers: The Plunket Society and Infant Welfare
|

21/11/2011
I went to new zealand while reading about the history of dunedin midwifery services. It's a really good book that is full of factual events and advances in midwifery. A service that started out to aid mothers with low socio-economic status backgrounds became an expected norm in antenatal and postnatal periods for all new zealand women. The midwives themselves are contributors to new zealands outstanding maternity services and today can congratulate themselves on reducing the number of deaths during the birthing process. In many ways new zealand is at the forefront of midwifery care and services.
